The web app

shapemason.com is ShapeMason in a browser, on a computer or a phone. It converts in the browser itself, so your files are never uploaded, and after the first visit it works offline.

  1. Add files: drop them anywhere on the page, or use Open Files (and Open Folder in a desktop browser).
  2. Choose what to make. Vector art: Sketch (DXF) or Extrude (STEP). Meshes: Mesh to Solid, Split to Bodies, Cross Section or Project Silhouette.
  3. Tune options: on the right on a computer, in a sheet from the bottom on a phone. The less common ones are under Advanced; changed ones are marked and can be reset. Every option: Options.
  4. See the result:
    • Model: sketches with closed profiles filled and open paths dashed red (drag, scroll or pinch; double-click to fit); solids in 3D (orbit, zoom, pan).
    • Picture: the same picture shapemason preview makes.
    • Report: output names, counts, size, notes and warnings, what’s in the file, and the equivalent shapemason command with Copy.
  5. Convert the selection or all files. One file downloads; several download as one zip. In Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers on a computer, Settings can choose a folder to save into instead. On a phone, a converted file can be shared.

If a mesh isn’t watertight, the report offers Repair Mesh and Retry or Import as Surface Body (why).

  • General: where to save, replacing existing files, anonymous usage data.
  • Profiles: save, apply, import and export.
  • Acknowledgements: third-party licences.
  • About: the version, and links to the privacy policy, terms of use and these docs.

The browser version can’t set text; see what the web app can’t do.
