Output names and results
The CLI, the app and the web app follow the same rules.
- An output is named after its input with the new extension:
logo.svg→logo.dxf,bracket.stl→bracket.step. - Split to Bodies names each file after its part.
- Text is named after its first line.
- Characters other than letters, digits,
-,_,.and space become_.
Where files go
Section titled “Where files go”| Front end | By default | Or |
|---|---|---|
| CLI | Next to the input | -o FILE (one input), -d DIR |
| App | Next to the input | Save To a folder (toolbar, or Settings) |
| Web app | Downloads; several files as one zip | A folder you choose in Settings (Chromium-based browsers on a computer) |
Existing files
Section titled “Existing files”Existing files are never replaced without asking. The CLI refuses and
writes nothing unless you pass --overwrite; the app and the web app ask,
unless Replace existing files without asking is on in Settings.
Results
Section titled “Results”| Result | CLI exit code | App and web app |
|---|---|---|
| Converted cleanly | 0 | ✓ |
| Converted, with warnings (open paths, a part that isn’t watertight, a suspicious size) | 2 | ⚠ |
| Failed | 1 | ✕ |
A batch exits with the worst result. Warnings are explained in Troubleshooting.
Names inside the file
Section titled “Names inside the file”Name (--name) sets the STEP part name (default: the file name, or
the text’s first line). For a DXF sketch it wraps the sketch in a block of
that name (default: no block).
