Quick Action, Shortcuts and the share sheet
The app adds a Convert with ShapeMason action to Shortcuts. It converts files with a profile without opening the app, and returns the converted files so a shortcut can pass them on.
| Parameter | Does |
|---|---|
| Files | The files to convert |
| Profile | The options, and what to make; Default Profile otherwise |
| Save To | Next to each file, into a folder, or don’t save (the default on iPad and iPhone) |
| Folder | Where to save, with Save To › folder |
| Replace Existing Files | Off by default: existing files are refused |
Each file is made into what the profile says when it takes that kind of file, otherwise its kind’s default. Shortcuts and Spotlight offer it as “Convert files with ShapeMason”.
Finder Quick Action (Mac)
Section titled “Finder Quick Action (Mac)”- In Shortcuts, make a new shortcut with Convert with ShapeMason and pick a profile.
- In the shortcut’s details, turn on Use as Quick Action, choose Finder, and have it receive files.
- In Finder, select files and choose Quick Actions › your shortcut.
Make one shortcut per profile for one Finder menu item per profile. Without the app, the CLI can install an Automator Quick Action.
Share sheet (iPad and iPhone)
Section titled “Share sheet (iPad and iPhone)”- In Shortcuts, make a shortcut with Convert with ShapeMason.
- Turn on Show in Share Sheet and have it receive files.
- In the Files app (or any app that shares files), share the files and choose the shortcut.
Files from the Files app often come without a folder to save beside, so the action returns the converted files for the shortcut to save or pass on.
